Introducing the Blockstream Scam Database

Samson Mow

Today we are proud to launch the Blockstream Scam Database, the latest tool in our ongoing effort to fight scammers who hijack the Blockstream brand.

Scams on the Rise

Over the last few years, we have received many reports of phishing sites, emails, and social media accounts pretending to be associated with Blockstream, typically with the intention of stealing users’ funds or personal information. Unfortunately, the incidence of these scams seems to be increasing.

Making Scams More Difficult

We launched the Blockstream Scam Database with the purpose of significantly increasing the difficulty of operating a Blockstream-related scam. The site provides users with a searchable directory of scams that use the Blockstream name, including:

  • Fake websites
  • Fake emails
  • Fake social media accounts
  • Fake job listings

Don’t Trust. Verify.

Blockstream cannot overstate the importance of verifying the authenticity of any websites, emails, or social media accounts, especially in the Bitcoin industry. Scammers will go to great lengths to deceive their targets and disguise themselves as a dependable person or company.

If you encounter an account that gives any indication of not truly being associated with Blockstream, simply visit the Blockstream Scam Database to verify.

In addition to a description of the scam, each report on the site provides an explanation of how our real service operates, the details of our real social media accounts and contact methods, and an outline of the personal details that Blockstream employees will never ask for.

Help Us Fight Scammers

If you encounter a scam, we’d also recommend that you complete the Report a Scam form with an explanation of what occurred. The more detail you can provide, the better!

After receiving your report, we’ll either add the information to an existing report or create a new one. We’ll also make efforts to report the scam to the relevant platform and authorities. Unfortunately, we are unable to assist with any disputes.

We’re grateful to our community members who have helped us find and report numerous fraudulent accounts and websites over the years, and look forward to your continued support in turning back the tide!
